Interviews Assessment Centre
Friday 3rd October 2025
At the start of this workshop, Sandra mentioned the STAR method. This struck fear into my heart. I had been asked before to use the STAR method during in an interview with a supermarket and had really not understood it at all. It felt more like a list of instructions than a guide and made my answers feel stiff and disjointed. However, when Sandra explained it and showed a video about it, it made much more sense.
Another thing mentioned was video applications. I had heard of video pitches and have had to submit a video for a university application in the past, but I didn’t know about video applications, much less prospective ones. A video application sounds great for those who have the confidence to do so, it also sticks in people’s heads but it’s not something that I could see myself pulling off.
Some useful tips:
- Always follow up with the interviewer/ company
- Where professional attire or whatever the work environment calls for
- Test your tech, but if it breaks “the show must go on”
- Have some notes with you
