Ronzo’s Brixtape
Purr Point Productions x Anything World
For this brief we were tasked with making a video game using the mascot of a Brick Lane based company, with Brick Lane being the setting. Additionally we’ll be receiving feedback from Purr Point Productions and a final exhibition once we are done.
Although I hadn’t necessarily considered production as a route I wanted to go down, I felt that it might be a skill I wanted to hone. Although I have previous experience in team organisation and management for smaller groups, I have never handled a team this big. One of my worries going into this was my lack of game development knowledge, luckily we have Tashan to help us with this. I think trusting and supporting our two game devs will be very important going forward.
For research purposes, we took a trip to Brick Lane to get a feel for the area. The amount of street art really stood out to me. Some were just tags while others had a political message. Additionally, I was I researched into the history of Brick Lane. It had traditionally been the hub of the textiles industry, traces of which can still be seen around the town. It’s been a home for all kinds of people. In the 16th century the Huguenots arrived from France, fleeing religious persecution. A lot of the textiles trades in the area was started by them. In the 19th century, Jewish refugees came from Eastern Europe, also fleeing religious persecution and picking up the local trade. Their impact can still be seen in Brick Lane’s famous bagel shops. Then in the 60s, many Bangladeshi immigrants arrived also leaving their own mark. All these elements are things that I want to reference in the environment of the game as it’s a key part of the fabric of both Brick Lane and London.
Following our trip to Brick Lane, we decided to make graffiti and street art an important aspect of the game. The UN sustainability goals had to be shown in some way so we decided to assign a goal to every graffiti/ mural the character would paint. I chose the goal ‘sustainable cities’ as it’s a topic I’m quite passionate about.

Doing some research, I found out that London is actually one of the most sustainable cities in the world- which honestly surprised me. I focused on areas such as transport , green spaces, third spaces, etc. I looked at buildings like the Barbican in London and the Parkroyal Hotel in Singapore.
